Beginning with his father’s Pentax K1000, Rainer has been photographing his friends, family, and peers throughout New York, from Manhattan’s Lower East Side to Queens to upstate New York. The film used includes ILFORD, Tri-X, Portra, Kodak Gold, FujiFilm Superia, Lomography and an assortment of expired film. Some film was generously donated by Jack Cahill.
Since December 2016, Rainer has been a freelance reporter and photographer for the Villager, photographing events like the 2016 Tompkins Square Park Christmas tree lighting and former U.S. attorney Preet Bharara’s lecture in April 2017 at Cooper Union.
